This past November, Arizona voters approved a ballot question (Proposition 209) which decreases the portion of a debtor’s disposable earnings that are subject to debt collection except for child support payments.

The Details:

Effective December 5*, 2022, the amount of disposable earnings subject to garnishment is the lesser of 10% or 60 times the highest applicable federal, state, or local minimum wage.

Previously, the amount of disposable earnings that was subject to garnishment was the lesser of 25% or 30 times the federal minimum wage.
