Maine has enacted legislation that will require employers to pay employees for a certain amount of hours if they are asked to report to work and are sent home early. The change is a result of the enactment of Legislative Document 598 and takes effect on Sept. 24, 2025.

Federal Compliance Update
<span><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;">A U.S. District Court judge has issued an order temporarily blocking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from ending TPS protections for Haitian nationals early. Under a previous announcement from DHS, TPS for Haiti would have terminated early on September 2, 2025. The court order reinstates a prior expiration date of February 3, 2026. DHS has appealed the order. <br />
