More than four million American workers held both a full-time job and a part-time job at the same time in 2022, according to the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. A few hundred thousand more workers held two two-full-time jobs at the same time in 2022. When employees have a second job in addition to their full-time job, it is often referred to as moonlighting.

The United States Supreme Court has ruled in Helix Energy Solutions Group v. Hewitt that an employee who made in excess of $200,000 annually was eligible for overtime pay due to the fact that the employee was paid on a daily basis.  

The New York Department of Labor has enacted legislation (Senate Bill 1961B), which requires employers to display a poster on veterans' benefits and services. Senate Bill 1961B is effective immediately.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed (Senate Bill S6085), which amends Section 201 of the New York Labor Law, adding new employer electronic posting requirements. Senate Bill S6085 is effective immediately.
